Xenacoelomorpha Xenacoela Notes

Redmond (2024) (citation) proposed that the grouping Xenacoela=Acoela+Xenoturbellida was a better alternative to Acoelomorpha (Acoela+Nemertodermatida) on the grounds that Acoelomorpha was a result of long-branch attraction in prior DNA-sequence-based phylogenies, but this has been challenged by Kück & Wilkinson (2026) (citation) who claim that amino-acid supermatrices show that the original Acoelomorpha is a preferable grouping.
